The Ge 6/6 I was introduced by the Rhaetian Railway of Switzerland in 1921, with a total of 15 units produced overall. It was an AC electric locomotive and features long noses at each end. The locomotive incorporates various technologies to ensure strong traction on the steep mountain routes of the Rhaetian Railway. It houses large equipment necessary for high power output which consequently increases its overall weight. To strike a balance between distributing weight and maintaining traction, the vehicle uses a six-axle configuration with two three-axle bogies, in which all axles are powered. A rod drive system is employed by using intermediate shafts, known as jackshafts, which transfer power to the axles from large motors that are mounted above the bogies and located inside the hoods. This is a train-only set to expand upon your existing train set or layout. Track and transformer are not included. This locomotive set is equipped with short couplers that are not compatible with traditional knuckle couplers.
