Up for sale is a vintage LGB 20539 Nürnberger Bierzug Beer Train Set, produced circa 1989 as a limited run of 1,000 units. This is set number 80, a low serial number example, and features the less common gold nose locomotive, which is not seen on all versions of this set. The locomotive has not been tested due to lack of track/equipment, but it was part of a display collection and appears to have seen little to no use. Features: Original locomotive with gold nose Matching cars from the set (as shown in photos) Limited Edition of 1000- #80 Original LGB box G Scale (1:22.5) Made in West Germany Highly detailed and durable construction Pre-owned and stored in the original packaging. This was part of my late father’s large LGB collection and was stored on shelves in our home. He was more of a collector than anything. All train cars appear to be in excellent condition. I took one picture of one of the tanker cars that appears to have a minor scuff mark on it. May be able scrub off which I did not try. Original box is included; the plastic handle on top is broken off and not included. The box remains structurally intact and displays well with signs of normal storage wear. It does have a black mark on the back of it and the front cover is partially unglued. Please review all photos carefully for the exact condition. Imperfections: Handle of box is broken off and not included Cover of the box is partially unglued (see photo) Black spot on back of the cover (see photo) One of the train cars has minor scuff mark but may be easily removed (I did not try) Great addition for LGB garden railway layouts or collectors of vintage West German LGB trains. This is a desirable collector’s set due to its limited production, low serial number (#80), and gold nose variation. A great piece for LGB collectors or garden railway enthusiasts. Large scale electric train set suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Big, easy to handle, complete and ready to run for years to come. Complete layout with 12 pieces of track to form a 4.3 foot circle. DC controller, UL approved provides the power to the Unique Posi-Lock track system for a weatherproof track construction. CABOOSE: Operating couplers, period styling with alot of detail. Stove pipe is off of the roof – not broken – just not installed – I’ll leave that for the new owner. I didn’t want to put it in and have it susceptible to being broken. WOOD GONDOLA: Highly detailed with period styling. Brake wheel and cargo. 3 satin ornaments sitting in their own little cradle. LOCOMOTIVE: Tested, ran smooth and quiet. I really think this set may have only been used once or twice. Nicely decorated steam locomotive even the interior shows some detail. Moves forward and reverse. Has an operating headlight. With all the good, this is where I found the only flaw. Right above the cow-catcher there should be a gold colored peg on each side – the left one is missing (see photo). I don’t know if this is something that can be acquired or not. Just remove the other, no-one would know. Stick a flag there or a wreath maybe.
