This train has been run a few times it is in almost new condition. All the cars have metal wheels. It comes with 14 pieces of track that form an oval for the train to run on. It has been tested and it runs the front headlight light up. The light on the coal car requires a 9 volt battery. It also comes with extra different kind of couplers. I have included some wires that you can connect to the track and it will run. But it really needs those connectors.
