Absolutely charming, and intact, we removed from outer box and untaped the foam in order to insert the 6 required “C” batteries into the “coal car” to test it. As per photos, we let it go on a wood floor, rather than remove track, and it works like a charm! Makes real train chugging sounds, with whistles, bells, and front lantern lights. There is a button on the side if you don’t want the recorded sounds, but we think its cutest with the sound. Package says it has 18 feet of track. When you flip the protective foam over, from the front side where the train is stored, there are all the track pieces, except for 4 in front. One of them we believe is where the train criss-crosses in a figure 8 but not 100% sure of its use. Simple battery operation, 6 “C” batteries are inserted into the “Coal Car” — Unscrew and lift off the wood top. There is a cord connector from the wood car to the Engine. Easy couplings attach each car from old-fashioned “steam” Engine to coal car to Coach to Caboose. Cute red cars with plenty of decals indicating the Santa Fe Express railroad. PLEASE NOTE : This is new in its box, it was never used, until opened for photos and tested. But the outer box shows lots of storage and moving wear, scuffing, rough corners, plenty of tape holding things together. It did protect the contents within, so all good!
