This is the Bachmann Trains Northern Lights Train Set. Train is large, G Scale. Engine car runs forward and back, has LED accent lights and si supposed to generate real smoke out of the smokestack (I didn’t test this, I don’t have the proper Bachmann Smoke Oil). Train runs great, we put together the circle tracks and made the video seen at the link below. Christmas Tree Train Set Demonstration – YouTube. There is straight track and curved track. The curved track has enough pieces to make the circle shown in the video. This would be great for running the train around your Christmas Tree. The set also includes enough straight track to make a large oval. The box says “32 running feet of track”, but I din’t measure them. I know the track in the box fills up every space, so it looks like it all there. The train cars are in great shape. All the small details like handrails and all are for the most part intact. One corner of one platform broken off but its all there and still attached to one of the rails. So gluing it would hide the fact it was broken. The speed dial on the control doesn’t make the train slow down, speed up, or stop. Not sure if its repairable or it would just best to get one from Bachman. The box is pretty beat up but its done a great job of protecting the train set through the years. The track pieces are metal, so there might be some connectors that you have to bend back in shape with pliers. When putting the circle together I had to do this to 1 of the 48 connectors, so not that big a deal. But they are used. The DVD and any possible manual are missing, but Bachmann has a great website and searching google finds various PDF manuals you can download, view and/or print. Didn’t test the smoke function but the wires that make this work look like they are in great shape, no indication of charring, from what I can see.
