Offered for sale is a model railroad trestle and roadbed set designed to be mounted indoors or outdoors at floor level. Perfect for train club gatherings and seasonal layouts. No need to make permanent (and often expensive) landscape alterations in your garden. Great mobility: If you move house, the layout goes along with you. This set can be used with G-Scale trains such as the ones made by LGB, PIKO, USA Trains, Aristo Craft, Bachmann and AML. FLOOR TRESTLES are designed to be mounted either on a hard floor surface or directly on a wide variety of garden grounds. They have two levelling bolts on their lower surface, for placement on uneven ground surfaces. Roadbeds are securely mounted to the top surface of the trestles with a # 8 x 1-1/2 inch screw (included). The distance from the floor to the mounted roadbed surface is approximately 15-1/2 inches. A locomotives cab window stands about 22 inches from the ground (see picture). For people running live steam locomotives. Floor trestles are manufactured from structural quality SPF lumber. They have been sawed to a smooth surface and are ready to be primed and painted in the solid color of your choice. However, some minor discretionary sanding may still be necessary. Each floor trestle kit comes individually packed in heavy gauge 6 poly tubing heat-sealed bags. All assembly hardware is included within each bag. Floor trestle structural members are easily assembled together using the included brass threaded rods that have a washer and a bolt on each side. NO GLUE OR NAILS. Painting prior to assembly is recommended. For proper resistance to outdoor weather conditions, all roadbeds and trestles must be painted with a good quality primer followed by at least two coats of a waterborne exterior paint. Finishing instructions are provided. ROADBEDS that support the tracks are manufactured from ¾ cabinet grade sanded pine plywood on both faces and have been edge-banded with real wood veneer. They are all 5 wide. These roadbeds have four grooves on their upper-side to resemble the thick beams that were once placed on real trestle bridges in the past. Roadbeds are securely joined to each other using two ¼ X 1-¼ hardwood dowel pins. NO GLUING is necessary. Both sections are held together with a 2 steel plate (see pictures). Roadbeds are also joined in modular groups using two L brackets that are kept together with a thumb screw and a wing nut (see pictures). With L brackets, roadbeds can be joined and separated just by feel, without having to stoop down to look under. Modular groups provide an easy and quick way of dis-assembling a layout either to re-assemble it at another location or for off season storage. Once the tracks are mounted and secured on the roadbeds, the modules can be separated to be moved and stored without having to remove the track sections. CURVED ROADBED sections each have a lineal center run of 18.48 and 4 sections make up 90 degrees. They correspond to the R-3 LGB track designation with a center-to-center diameter of 2,390mm (7.8 feet). They can be used with LGB 16000, AML G213-08 and USA Trains R81600 tracks. RB-24-ST STRAIGHT ROADBED sections each have a run of 600mm (23.622). They are securely joined together in the same way as the curved roadbeds. Curved and straight roadbeds come individually packed in heavy gauge 6 poly tubing heat-sealed bags. The set for sale includes the following individual items. Twelve, floor trestles model CT-S-001. Sixteen, curved roadbeds model RB-16-R3. Seven, straight roadbeds model RB-24-ST. Twelve, floor trestle footings with levellers. Twelve L bracket sets with screws included. One, custom made 4 roadbed with one special track. Also included is a full set of mounting and finishing instructions. Trains, rail tracks (except for one) and power supplies/controllers are NOT included in the sale price. They are shown in pictures and video for illustration purposes only. A layout plan within the collection of pictures outlines the exact placement of the trestles and roadbeds within a 15 x 12 space. Total roadbed footage is 38.8 feet. Included in the picture set are some images of our working layout installed on three different outdoor settings.
